This Imperial German banknote represents the 1st denomination of Goldmark (Series 1883). The observe features a beautiful illustration of Germania (symbol of Germany) with an infant. The reverse depicts the dragon Fafnir guarding a golden goblet full of treasure. Notably Fafnir was slain by the hero Siegfried, to woo the princess Brynhild.
