This commemorative Romanian polymer banknote celebrates the 11 August 1999 solar eclipse and the year 2000. The features a simplified model of the solar system, with the sun blacked out. The reverse depicts a map of Romania, overlaid with diagram marking cities the eclipse can be seen. Notably this is the first polymer banknote issued in Europe.
