This WWII-era Imperial Japanese banknote represents the 1st denomination of the Yen Series (1944). The observe features a statue of samurai Kusunoki Masashige (1294-1336). The monument sits outside the Imperial Palace, in Tokyo. In remembrance of the ideal of samurai loyalty. The reverse features Kanji, it translates to “Bank of Japan Note” and "5 Sen". The note's dimensions are: 100 × 52 mm or 3.94 x 1.89 in.
